Who inspires you musically?

DJ Nick: My biggest musical inspiration is John Mayer. From his bluesy soulful stuff to his skilled guitar playing, John Mayer has written some beautiful musical compositions over the last decade. He continues to evolve his sound and self as a musician. Continuing to enhance your skill, not settling for what you’ve done in the past, trying new things, that kind of art is TRUE inspiration!

What inspires you to DJ weddings?

DJ Nick:  Since I was a kid I’ve loved music! From chorus as a young kid, to a rock band in my adolescence, straight on through to college for recording and engineering music. It’s my passion. Music has the means to enhance normal human emotions: like becomes love, sad becomes depressed and desire becomes hope. You can only imagine what the right combination of music can do at an event as significant to a person’s life as their wedding. My love for DJing stems from my desire to make couples happy and be the person there to create an unforgettable day for them through my music and my ability to entertain.

What’s one thing you love about weddings in general?

DJ Nick: Weddings are one the most special days in a person’s life. There is something so genuine about two people, vulnerably, standing up in front of all their family and friends, to commit themselves to one another. I guess you could say I love the vows.

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom searching for a DJ?

DJ Nick: Meet with them. Get to know them. Make sure your DJ is someone you connect with, who sees you and your soon-to-be spouse as people, not an just another event. Surrounding yourselves with professionals who are not only committed to your wedding, but to you and your happiness is key to ensuring that, on your wedding day, things will feel right and flow smoothly.

What advice can you offer to the couple about planning in general?

DJ Nick: Planning can be hectic and overwhelming, especially when rushed. Make sure you start the planning process early to ensure that you aren’t forced to settle on an event hall or vendor you didn’t particularly love Decide on how you want to prioritize your planning and what you’re budget is first, then shop around for your favs. This is a once in a lifetime event and it’s ok to stretch it out a little. Enjoy the planning process and make it fun.
