How to Have an Unplugged Wedding

Having an unplugged wedding is becoming more and more popular with couples every year. The fact is, we live in a social media world. Not all brides and grooms want pictures of their wedding posted on the internet for the world to see. Guests taking photos during a wedding can also interfere with the photographer and videographer’s jobs. We’ve even seen shots of the bride or groom posted to social media by a member of the bridal party, before their walk down the aisle has even taken place.

One of the most important reasons we like the idea of having a no cell phone or camera wedding is for the sake of your wedding photos and video. Almost every wedding photographer or videographer can attest to having images ruined from a wedding by guests taking photos. Whether it’s standing in the way of a great shot or their camera flashes interfering with the lighting, this is an all too common problem at weddings. We can only imagine the disappointment of a couple when they only receive a small portion of their wedding photos due to guests’ camera interference. On other story, please checkout this blog about purchasing likes for videos to increase hits and establish better social media presence.

If you’re getting married and want to have an unplugged wedding, but don’t know how to politely request that guests refrain from using their personal phones & cameras, here are a few tips:

  • State on your wedding website that you are having an unplugged wedding. This will let guests know far in advance what to expect when they arrive.
  • List on your wedding programs or on a welcome sign at your ceremony location that you don’t want guests to take photos during your ceremony.
  • Have your officiant announce right before the ceremony begins that you would like guests to refrain from using their cameras and cell phones for photos.
  • A wedding ceremony is seen as a formal event. It will be easier to ask guests for an unplugged wedding during this part of your wedding day as opposed to your reception, which is more of a party atmosphere.
