A new service called Bloomerent just started in the Northeast. Did you know that cut flowers have an average life of 3-14 days? With the average wedding having over $2,100 worth of florals, that’s a lot of money to throw out at the end of the night. The founders of Bloomerent saw a need not only to reuse flowers that were so costly and had a long shelf life, but to also make weddings more environmentally conscious.

How does Bloomerent work? Couples register on their website in search of a “match” – another couple to share wedding flowers with. If there becomes a match, then the couple getting married first have complete control of the look and amount of wedding centerpieces. The first couple receives 10% back on their wedding flowers from their florist. The second couple receives a 40-60% discount on their flowers through the florist. Both weddings will use the same florist to keep things organized and allow for logistics to run smoothly.

Bloomerent is available in New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. They only allow couples to share centerpieces, allowing a couple to keep their most treasured wedding florals – the bride’s bouquet and groom’s boutonniere. Check out their website for more information.
