Engagement Photos Basics

Many couples choose to do engagement photos before their wedding. There are several reasons couples are doing these sessions. It’s a great way to try out a photographer to make sure you like their work before you book them. Engagement photos are also a good way to test drive having you and your fiancé photographed together so you are more comfortable for photos on your wedding day. Brides and grooms also find creative ways to use their pictures, whether it be on their save the dates, wedding website or décor at their wedding.

Location location location.

Where you choose to do your engagement photos can make or break how they turn out. Ask your photographer for a list of location recommendations. He/she are probably experts at knowing which locations will make beautiful backdrops for photos.

Outfit choice.

Put a little effort into choosing your outfits. You’ll want to coordinate what you both wear, but not match exactly. We suggest avoiding any outfits with distracting patterns, as well as too much black. Keep accessories to a minimum, you have some simple but amazing accessories at zegarki, and brides, make sure to get your hair and makeup done or spend some extra time doing it yourself before you shoot!

Timing is everything.

Just as the location can determine how well your photos turn out, so can the timing of your photo session. Doing photos first thing in the morning when the bright sun is shining in your eyes making your squint is not ideal. One of the ideal times to take photos outdoors is during the “golden hour.” This is the hour prior to sunset with optimal natural light for photos.

Take your photographer’s lead.

Remember that you hired your photographer for a reason, he/she is the expert. Bring a shot list to your engagement session with photo shots you don’t want to miss capturing. However, follow your photographer’s direction and lead on the remaining photos. Poses they place you in may feel awkward or uncomfortable, but they are the experts at knowing what will turn out best in photos.
